This hung curd dip is for cheese and mayonnaise addicts who want to enjoy the taste at the same time limit the calorie intake.
While I try to maintain a healthy diet, there are some unhealthy things that I just love and crave for. Cheese and mayonnaise are amongst these and I can have this with almost everything be it salads, sandwiches, as a dip or even just like that.
Cheese and mayonnaise are a good source of calcium but too much consumption adds to the overall calories. Weight issues are a common complaint with many women and I too am one of them. Due to this, I had been looking to substitute this cheese and mayonnaise in my diet with something healthier and equally tasty. I tried the diet versions of both and to some extent would feel a little less guilt but not completely guilt free.
A while ago while visiting a friend I tried a hung curd dip that she had made with chips and crackers. This dip was nice and since it was made of hung curd had fewer calories as compared to a cheese dip.
I decided to try to make it adding some variations to what she told me since I didn’t really remember the exact recipe. Here the step-by-step procedure.
Ingredients
250 gms hung curd
15-20 garlic cloves
1 tbsp mustard seeds
2 tbsp chopped capsicum
Oregano, salt and sugar to taste
Method
Grind the mustard seeds and the garlic separately. Mix all the above ingredients into the hung curd and start whisking. If it is too stiff then add a few spoons of water intermittently. The secret here is to continuously whisk till there are no lumps and it is a smooth mixture. Takes about 10-15 minutes of whisking and the dip is ready.

This sounds like a quick and healthy dip. The one I make is without mustard powder. Can try this out.
I make it without the mustard powder too sometimes but the addition gives it a good zing and flavor
