When we talk about healthy foods or superfoods, flax seeds are among the top on that list. And there is a reason for it. Flaxseeds contain anti-inflammatory omega-3 fatty acids (although not the same type that fish, such as salmon, do) along with antioxidant substances called lignans that help promote hormonal balance in addition to several other benefits of flaxseed. They are a great source of dietary fiber; minerals like manganese, thiamine, and magnesium; and plant-based protein.
Benefits of consuming flax seeds
Packed with nutrients, consuming flax seeds has numerous benefits
How to consume flax seeds
While these are packed with nutrients, including them in our daily diet can be sometimes difficult due to its flavor and texture. To get the nutritional and health benefits of flax seeds, aim for 1 to 2 tablespoons daily. You can purchase flax seeds whole or ground or grind them at home. The ground flax seeds may be easier for some folks to digest over the whole variety.
Here are some ways in which I use flax seeds
Mixed in flour
Wheat 5 kg, jowar 500 gms, soybeans 250 gms, ragi 250 gms and flax seeds 250 gms.
If you get the readymade flour, you can still add the ground flax powder to it all together or daily 1 tbsp while making the dough for rotis.
Added to breakfast
I add flax seeds to my breakfast dishes like poha, upma or the potato bhaji. Follow the normal recipe for poha /upma /potato bhaji and add flax seeds while adding cumin and mustard seeds to the oil.
As a crust, while frying
For dishes like deep fried chicken, paneer or potato which had a crust of bread crumbs and flour around it, I add a tsp of ground flax seeds to it. It makes the crust really crunchy as well as adds a nutty flavor to the dish. I also add it to the batter for coating batata wadas and bhajiyas(fritters)
In salads
The easiest way to add flax seeds to your diet is adding them to salads. Just like you would add walnuts, almonds, pumpkin seeds, adding flax seeds gives it a nutty flavor and adds to the crunchiness of salads
While baking
If you enjoy baking, adding a tsp of ground flax seeds to your cake, cookie or pancake batter is another great way of adding this to your diet.
If you have not already started including flax seeds in your diet, now is a good time to start. Do let us know if you have any other innovative ways to include this superfood in your diet.

Well, I will definitely make it a point to add flax seeds to poha which I simply love.
This is so good to read. I love munching on roasted flax-seeds as a snack. Including in the egg-batter while frying omlette is another thing I follow.
